There are things that happen in your life that could not be controlled.
Such thing is what happened to me last night.
It made me reschedule my fast and it made me stay up very late that I wasn’t not able to wake up early in the morning to practice Yoga or go to the gym.
And today I feel so weak and sleepy, I don’t think that I’d be able to practice Yoga properly.
So In order to compensate I will be doing my fasting today and I am doing some really deep meditation.
I will also watch the video documentary of Paramahansa Yogananda a very interesting person from India and one of the main forces of Yoga in the west.
It is well known that Steve Jobs the founder and innovator of Apple has only one book in his iPad and that is the book of Paramahansa Yogananda entitled: Autobiography of a Yogi.
Paramahansa Yogananda was such a driving force to Steve Jobs that when he died, he specifically asked that everyone who will commemorate his passing be given the same book and a message that says: “Actualize Yourself”
Apparently one of the most important messages of Paramahansa Yogananda is to reach ones own self-realization through the constant practice of meditation.
He calls his practice Kriya Yoga.
I am very interested in the practice of meditation mainly because of its health benefits, but mostly because of how it is highly linked in martial arts.
I can totally understand why martial artists would have a great advantage when they practice meditation because of the nature of a fight.
In a sparring match, being nervous or having an uncalm mind can mean a difference between losing or getting injured.
I personally practice meditation and I started by using the guided meditation until I got used to just listen to silence.
I also practice meditation better while lying down instead of sitting although I would still practice the former if the need arises.
For now I leave you with a really good video interview by David Tian with Stefan Ravalli on how meditation helps in one’s masculinity.
